Indiana Redbirds

Tony Benefiel

Tony Benefiel is entering his 4th season of the Indiana Redbirds Summer Baseball Organization.  Benefiel founded this organization in January of 2010, after moving to Columbus, IN.  For Benefiel, this organization is a resurrection of a Redbirds team in which his father (Rick Benefiel) and uncle (Jeff Benefiel) ran in the mid-90's.

Prior to beginning the Indiana Redbirds, Benefiel served as a student assistant coach at Anderson University (2005-2009), under Hall of Fame Head Coach Don Brandon.  Benefiel served as a bullpen coach, first base coach, and a recruiter during his time at Anderson.

While at Anderson, Coach Benefiel also spent his summers coaching traveling baseball teams with the USAthletic Baseball Club (2006-18U, 2007-18U, and 2005-15U), and the Indiana Bandits Baseball Club (2009-18U).

After graduating from Anderson University in 2009, with a BA in Sociology, and completing the summer with the Indiana Bandits, Benefiel moved from Anderson, IN to Columbus, IN.

Since beginning the Indiana Redbirds Organization, Benefiel and his coaching staff has had the privilege of coaching many exceptional young men from all over Indiana with top calibur abilities. The Redbirds have seen 20 of their 25 graduates since 2010 continue their baseball careers at the collegiate level.

With the success this organization has seen thus far, Coach Benefiel and his staff are looking forward to another outstanding summer with a highly talented roster filled with some highly rated, top calibur athletes in Indiana, competing agianst some of the best teams in the Midwest.

Coach Benefiel resides in Columbus, IN with his wife Chelsie and daughter Zoey.
